Bennington Battlefield
The Battlefield is but a mere corner of the true battleground
of the Battle of Bennington. In fact the battlefield is
on the spot where Colonel Baum's troops were outposted
and one small scrimmage took place. The true battlefield
is all of the Walloomsac Valley and it was there that the
Battle of Bennington was fought. Ironically Bennington
is in Vermont and the Battlefield is in New York, yet it
is not too far from the Monument on Rt. NY 67, North Hoosick
(Walloomsac). See the site or call Grafton Lakes State
Park at 518-279-1155 for further information.

Everett Mansion Home of Southern Vermont College
This building located between Old Bennington and Pownal
belonged to Edward Everett, the owner of one of the area’s
largest bottling companies in the 1900’s. This castle-like
building was just one of several homes he owned. It was
completed by 1914. After the Everett family no longer owned
the building, it was converted to a monastery and in the
1970's it became St. Joseph’s College. Eventually
Southern Vermont College acquired it and is currently restoring
the estate to its original glory. Address: 928 Mansion
